Providing estimating services on plan to develop The Alcatraz Embarkation Site, located at the midpoint of a series of public spaces along the northern half of the Embarcadero at Pier 31-1/2. The site is part of the National Register of Historic Plac¬es and the site design and materials must compliment the historic resources that surround the site, including the pier sheds, bulk heads, and open views to the wa¬ter. In addition, the design and materials must comply with the Port of San Francisco’s design guidelines. The site is divided into 3 parts: 1. Civic Plaza Brings the Embarcadero into the site. 2. Embarkation Pavilion Organizes ferry embarkation operations and provides framework for interpretive elements & experiences. 3. Apres Tour Pavilion & Cafe Provides comfort, sustenance, and social connection. The Site and Landscape improvements will occur on the surface of an existing concrete pier. The reinforcement and maintenance of which will be carried out by the Port of San Francisco (Port). The design of subsurface drainage, including compliance with the Port of San Francisco’s Stormwater Management Requirements must be coordinated with the Port. The site improvements include hard scape and cus¬tom furnishings, including seating, interpretive panels, stanchions, guardrails, and site walls.

South Park Improvements, San Francisco, CA
Provided Master Plan estimate for South Park, the oldest public park in San Francisco. Originally intended to be an English picturesque strolling park, it has fallen into disrepair and has been subject to ad-hoc improvements over the years. We were hired to perform estimates for a master plan for the park. The proposed plan will provide a play area, a large open meadow, and plazas of varying scale. It also helps to alleviate two major issues including poor drainage and slopes that do exceed ADA minimums. The new design will be a contemporary interpretation of the classic picturesque park. It will provide many amenities along a thickened and programmatic pathway. Improvements will include bulb-outs and chicanes for traffic calming, a play area, plazas, seatwalls, bio-infiltration swales, and a rainwater cistern for irrigation usage. Park area 37,206 Sf, paving 10,500 sf, concrete seat walls 200 lf, site utilities, site lighting, furnishings, landscape and Irrigation all on limited scope for a cost of $1.5 M.

Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, CA
Seismic retrofit and conversion of the former San Francisco Main Library into a world–class art museum. The $120 million rehabilitation included modifying the interiors to serve its new use while preserving the historical features of the 165,000 square foot facility. Seismic upgrading to protect this historic structure included over 200 base isolators placed beneath all columns of the building.
Chabot Space & Science Center, Oakland, CA
Pre-construction services for this new $35 million science and technology education facility on a 13–acre site. The 86,000 square foot facility features a 240–seat planetarium with high tech visual and multimedia capabilities; 210–seat Tien MegaDome Theater; Challenger Learning Center with space station and mission control simulators; observatory complex housing the center’s 8–inch, 20–inch and 36–inch telescopes; and numerous exhibit halls.
War Memorial Opera House, San Francisco, CA
Seismic upgrade and historic restoration of this 3,200–seat, Beaux Arts style opera house, a national and historic landmark that was damaged in the Loma Prieta earthquake. The $60 million historic renovation restored the richly detailed interior that includes cast stone, ornamental plaster, marble, bronze and tile.

Provided cost estimating services on a feasibility study and report for five new county courthouses. These included the one-story, 39,984 square foot Hollister Courthouse estimated at $38.6 Million; the 7-story Long Beach Courthouse with basement and an onsite 500 car parking structure, estimated at $321.5 million; the two-story San Andreas Courthouse, approximately 59,336 square feet estimated at $52.3 Million; the 39,826 square foot Susanville Courthouse estimated at $36.2 Million; and the two-story, 89,971 square foot Porterville Courthouse, estimated at $81.2 Million.
